Tezos

What's Tezos?

Tezos is a blockchain protocol featuring on-chain governance, self-upgradability, secure smart contract development, low transaction fees, and an environmentally friendly validation system known as Liquid Proof-of-Stake. Tezos has experienced 10 seamless network upgrades over the past four years by allowing each computer (validator) to vote on protocols. Tezos has a thriving NFT ecosystem with hundreds of thousands of NFTs minted and more than 51 million contract calls, while remaining energy-efficient. To mint an NFT on Tezos is as much energy as less than 7 seconds of an LED while on Ethereum, it would cost the monthly electricity of an American household.

NFTs

Tezos has made a strong name for itself in the NFT world. Major NFT marketplaces are built on Tezos such as OBJKT, OneOf, and Teia. More so, the NFT exhibit at Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 was built on Tezos. Major institutions such as The Grammy’s, Kia Motors, iHeartRadio, Ubisoft, Gap, McLaren Racing and Red Bull Racing have made the Tezos blockchain their canvas. Popular musicians that have released Tezos NFTs are Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park, Chief Keef, Pitbull, Whitney Houston, Doja Cat, Quincy Jones, John Legend, and Charlie Puth amongst others. The major institutional and celebrity adoption on Tezos stems from how eco-friendly Tezos is, in addition to very low transaction fees (usually just a few cents!). Tezos is not just a cutting edge platform, it’s the platform to create the cutting edge.

Development Languages

There are multiple languages in which Tezos smart contracts can be written in. All of these languages ultimately are compiled into Michelson, the official smart contract language of Tezos. Although Michelson is the official language, we recommend using the languages below because of their ease-of-use and formal verification.

  1. SmartPY python syntax and structure (with a few small differences). https://smartpy.io/ IDE, SmartPy CLI, Nodes to interact with, Documentation, Etc.
